Clifton Carbin

Clifton Carbin has been a continuous DHI member since DHI's establishment in 1991. He has served DHI in a variety of roles such as a DHI Bureau Member-at-Large from 2015-2018, the DHI Newsletter Editor from 2012-2015, the General Chair of the 8th DHI Conference held in 2012 in Toronto, Canada, and as a Planning Committee Member from 1990-1991 for the First International Conference on Deaf History held in 1991 at Wahsington, D.C., USA.

He is a published author of two historical books, Deaf Heritage in Canada: A Distinctive, Diverse, and Enduring Culture (1996), and Samuel Thomas Greene: A Legend in the Nineteenth Century Deaf Community (2005).
​
He is currently retired and devoting more time to occasional research and writing, specializing in Canadian Deaf historical subjects, and to explore old and new pursuits like travelling.
