|Brief description (personal, work, education, associations, interests):||
I graduated with a B.A. in English from Gallaudet University in 1980, MEd McDaniel College in 1981, a MILS from URI in 2001, and an Ed.D from St. John Fisher College in 2015. My dissertation focused on Deaf study abroad programming for DHH students using the community cultural wealth theory: Seeing the World through Deaf Eyes: The Chile Study Abroad Experiences of Deaf Students.
I have been working as a reference librarian at NTID, a deaf college at RIT, in Rochester, NY. I support the curriculum of Deaf Studies faculty and helped to establish the NTID History and Deaf Studies Archives at RIT Libraries in 2005. I publish Deaf Studies web guides to assist students and faculty find information. In addition, I served as a copyright specialist for a team creating several websites, Deaf Art/Deaf Artists, Deaf People in WW II and Deaf Theatre, all with a global focus.
|Ambitions for DHI:||
I would like more people to be aware of this organization and encourage faculty, staff and interested members to contribute articles about books, videos, websites, museums and archives. I would also like to see the membership grow for DHI as it becomes more visible via Facebook, the website and other online venues. We all can inform our network of colleagues about this organization to increase knowledge and pride of our deaf global heritage.
